I am interested in the post-modernist dialogue, especially eclecticism. In this context I feel compelled to break out and work across genres, mediums and subject matter. Exhibition and curatorial styles overseas are moving away from the dreadfully outdated “theme” show, where drama was thought only achievable by a strict visual cohesion between each work. This is being challenged by artists who are intentionally building diversity into their body of work as a form of risk-taking and demonstrating their integrity. Through my work I want to achieve some sort of relevance, combat boredom and hopefully be recognised as a truly contemporary artist.
