
Penny Coss was born in 1961 in Sydney. She graduated from the University of NSW and the City Art Institute (Sydney). She studied drawing at St. Martins School of Art in London and was an ArtsWA grant recipient to participate in the 1997 New York School of Art Drawing Marathon (Adelaide). In 1994 she moved to Perth to practice her art and lecture for the West Australian School of Art & Design. She has won several awards including the Albany Art Prize, the Kimberley Drawing Prize and the East Fremantle Art Prize. Coss has exhibited widely throughout Australia and in Japan and New Zealand.
