Sue Ninham was born in Adelaide. She completed a Bachelor of visual communication, majoring in illustration at the University of South Australia in 1983.
Upon graduating she moved to Sydney and worked as a designer and illustrator for numerous national magazine publications. In 2001 Sue became a full-time artist. Initially drawn to the 1950’s for her inspiration, having spent childhood summers in her grandparent’s house, memories of space-age splay-legged furniture, Parisian scented feature walls, fold away record players, patterned curtains and crazy paving imbue her work with a playful optimism.
