"Anomaly" is Ninham's second exhibition at Harrison Galleries. In this body of work she uses the immediate and free medium of watercolour.

For almost six years I have been painting exclusively in oils. In August last year I presented an exhibition of my watercolours for the south Australian Living artists Festival. I enjoyed returning to my favourite medium, and made the decision to continue to explore it for at least a year, seeing where it led and how I might translate what I discovered into new ways of working with oil paint.
This exhibition occurs in the middle of this process and expresses the freedom I feel when I am painting with water.
In February and March of this year the Eastern States of Australia experienced extremes in weather like never before, seemingly an anomaly. In the north of the country there was too much water, in the south, not enough.
Images in the media and the physical and emotional difficulties of living in a city where daily temperatures soared above 40 C affected me deeply.
The irony of expressing these events with water was not lost on me.
