Samone Turnbull was born in Arno Bay on the Eyre Peninsula S.A. and studied Printmaking at the S.A. School of Art, graduating in 1977.
Principally a painter, Samone also creates works with mixed media, depicting figurative and still life subjects.
Inspired from life, the imagery of her work is drawn from home-spun stories of people, often performing the most ordinary of tasks.
Although grounded in the everyday, with the use of symbolism and allegory, Samone invites an interpretative approach to the scenes she describes. Time is suspended within a frozen moment that has transformative qualities of the narrative to evoke the make believe of a tall-tale.
