The work of five artists, Mike Chavez, Daniel Brinsmead, Adrian Doyle and Doug Bartlett (collaboration of Nick Morris and David Bowers) are inspired largely by the bombardment of images and text from popular culture, advertising and the urban street context. Working in the zeitgeist of their generation, these artists have concerns about the nature of society and all imbue in their work a flamboyant lightness injecting freshness, wit and colour.
These urban artists produce work that contests the nature of capitalist society; advertising slogans, pop imagery, stencils and dripping paint.
