ABOUT THE ARTIST
Andrew Baines begins his work not at the easel but pre-dawn on the beach. In his 'human installations' Baines directs groups of people usually dressed in dark suits to wade into the calm waters of the Adelaide coast line. From here, he takes photographs, which later spring board on to the canvas. His subjects include the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, business , political and religious leaders.
Baines has been a finalist in the Doug Moran Portrait Prize, the Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize and Fleurieu Landscape Prize and had residency in Broome.
He has exhibited in Switzerland, the US, Britain and throughout Australia.
