ABOUT THE ARTIST

Coming from a background of Architecture, I have always enjoyed imagining and making drawings, models, buildings and paintings.

Paintings and drawings are special to me because they integrate the creative and physical processes involved in making objects.

Paintings and drawings also allow the luxury of building an imaginary world of a calm, languid and dreamlike nature with a sense of otherness and nostalgia.

In this world, landscapes, buildings, gardens, people, skyscapes, models, plants, shadows, light and dark atmospheres, focussed and blurred treatments and everyday objects such as jugs and cups are threaded and weaved into integrated compositions.

Pictures within pictures, thresholds and openings to views are formed and layered. The boundaries between these framed elements are often uncertain to allude to the composed and manipulated nature of the images.
